Who Stole My Career?

Surviving The Assault on Private Sector Careers in America.

What has liberalim wrought in Michigan?

If you want to see how runaway liberalism will end in America, look no further than the gaping hole in America known as Michigan. The once great world leading industrial capital has progressively chased their manufacturing base out of town thanks to the United Automotive Workers Union and the high taxes that go with liberalism gone wild.

Last week the census bureau announced that Michigan had, in fact, slipped into a hopeless death spiral:

  • 15 of Michigan's 20 largest cities saw population losses, according to 2010 Census numbers released today.
  • Detroit led the way falling 237,493 people to 713,777, a 25 percent decline. Flint lost 10.7 percent of its residents, or 22,509 people.
  • Between 2000 and 2010, Michigan suffered its first population drop in history, losing 2% of its statewide population.

Think that's bad -- take a look at the bloody details about who's leaving and who's moving in (from the Kalamazoo Gazette):

A few months ago I did a story (Illinois Tax Hike: Economic Suicide?) about Illinois Governor Pat Quinn's stupid plan to raise taxes on corporations and the wealthy rather than cut spending.

At the time, I warned that this would chase Illinois's top tax payers away and simply make things worse.

Today, one of Illinois's biggest tax payers -- Caterpillar announced plans to move to another state because Quinn's tax hike will end up costing them $60 million in 2011 (versus $48 million in 2010).

Clearly, the thugs at the AFL-CIO have adopted the ever-so-popular “riot in the streets” approach to dealing with the growing national trend to cut wages and benefits for government workers.

Liberals and unions bosses are arguing that the wealthy and corporations need to pay more taxes to “protect the rights of workers” (so they can continue to fund the political campaigns of the democrat candidates who gave them their fat contracts in the first place).

The fatal flaw in this argument is that the so-called rich aren’t playing along with this scam. It has become increasingly clear that in uber-liberal states like California and New York, the rich are taking their income and the taxes they pay and going elsewhere.

"Crap, that didn't work -- what shall I try next?"Under Obama’s watch, the United States has fallen as the world’s economic superpower and now stands out as little more than a “bad joke” in the land of global economics.

Once again, Obama is proving beyond a doubt that the toxic mixture of big government socialism and anti-private sector Keynesian economics is the road to economic Armageddon.

Three Charts That Tell All

Over the past few days, I have collected 3 economics charts that prove two things:

1. Obama’s economic policies are the diametric opposite of most of the industrialized world.

2. Thanks to Obama, the US is missing out on the robust economic recovery that is occurring globally.

This morning I was a guest on the Scott Thompson show out of Monroe Wisconsin.

We talked quite a bit about how young recent college grads have "had their future teaching careers stolen" by union thugs who insisted that Scott Walker whack young, enthusiastic teachers to preserve the fat salaries and pensions of the crusty old teachers who fund union pay-offs to democrat politicians.

Perhaps you found my rhetoric a little uncivilized or even inflammatory and for that I apologize.

But what if it's true and we have organized crime pulling the strings inside the AFL-CIO to bilk taxpayers of hundreds of millions of dollars that are then funneled into the hands of democratic politicians 92% of the time?

Wouldn't that make even a liberal scream foul?

Today I picked up a story from the retired Sacramento Bee reporter Ed Mendel that proves that the web of corruption between the unions and the politicians is no longer a matter of rumor or innuendo -- it is now a matter of public record.

Please give Ed's piece a good read and pass it along to your liberal friends who "stand with the union protesters in Wisconsin."

"Great time to hit the beach!""You have to remember that economic growth in the United States is the president's top priority. This trip (to Rio) is very focused on economic opportunities for the United States and the trade relationship."

Jay Carney
White House Spokesman

As Japan melts down and Gaddafi annihilates the freedom fighters who are desperately looking to the United States for help, Obama decides that this is a great time to pack up the fam and head to Rio for a little "fun in the sun."

"Don't mess wit my union dues!"I was at a party over the weekend and got into a mini-debate with one of my more loveable liberal friends. By loveable, I mean he’s a liberal because he’s convinced that by handing out endless entitlements – even those we can't afford – democrats are more compassionate than republicans.

Eventually we got on to Wisconsin and he said “oh but the teachers, we can’t take it out on the poor teachers;” again, big heart and that’s about it!

Then the human parasite Jesse Jackson decides it’s time for him to grab some air time and sticks his nose into the Wisconsin democrat riots saying :

"Suddenly we have gone from Wallace to Walker," (referencing the 1968 fight for rights, where as an aide to Dr. King Jackson worked to challenge the segregation policies of the defiant Alabama Governor George Wallace.)

“Madison has become ground zero for the fight for workers rights…”

So here we go again, if you don’t blindly give in to the “democrat ATM” know as organized labor, you’re a racist and oh yeah, union worker’s so-called “rights” are the same as regular worker rights!

Nothing could be further from the truth.

I have to admit that I am getting a little depressed these days as I watch the blood battle between the republicans who are only seeking $61 billion in spending cuts and the democrats who claim that one penny more than $6 billion will bring about the end of life as we know it.

Obama plans to spend $3.9 trillion this year and by all estimates, the government will take in just $2.8 trillion. We need to be seeking $1.1 trillion in cuts, not $61 billion, and certainly not $6 billion.

Impervious to Evidence

Today I found a story titled "Impervious to Evidence" by Mona Charen that truly illustrates the hopeless absurdity of exactly what the democrats in congress are fighting for.

Don't you love it when liberals toss out one of the their popular myths as if it's a "scientific fact"?

In the last week I've had two arguments with liberals who both referenced the 1980's liberal derogatory "tickle down" as if it was a proven failure.

Whenever I ask a liberal to prove that supply side economics failed, they get that old "deer in the headlights blank stare." Generally, the best they can offer is that the gap between the poorest Americans and the wealthiest has increased since the early 80's so trickle down economics must have been a failure.

There are several flaws in this specious argument:

Is it time to stop the demagoguery?I can't seem the escape from the Wisconsin debate.

Arguments around questions like "is Walker just a union-buster?" Or "the unions have already conceded enough to balance the budget," or, "the polls show that the people of Wisconsin back the unions," and my favorite "Walker is stealing the rights of union workers to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy!"

The left wing spin doctors are working overtime to crank out disinformation to take our eyes off two simple facts -- Wisconsin is broke and their taxes are already so high that businesses are leaving the state, which brings us to the heart and soul of Walker's so-called "Tax Cuts for the Rich."

Let's start with the big lie that Walker's tax cuts somehow benefit the rich - they do not!

The Frightening Tale of Obama’s Peeps

“When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.” Benjamin Franklin I don’t know about you, but the recent “bump” in Obama’s approval numbers are starting to depress me. Can’t people see that he’s killing the economy, stifling business expansion with taxes and regulations, and fueling the kind of class warfare that tears nations apart? The thing is, if you study the numbers, it’s not surprising at all. Our nation is now h [ ... ]
